About the artwork:
Peggy Griffiths has depicted jilinybeng (bush cucumber) intertwined with the jardang (spinifex grass) of her Country. These both come out in the wet season. When it rains, the spinifex grass has a strong eucalyptus smell. Spinifex grasses were used by women as a form of bush medicine, particularly contraception, and burned to keep mosquitos away.

This product was made in collaboration with Aboriginal Art Centre Hub Western Australia (AACHWA) as part of the Make It Real project. Make It Real is a dedicated project created in response to the 'Fake Art Harms Culture' campaign, with the aim to develop certified, culturally authentic Indigenous products and souvenirs.
