The diagonal lines represent the water of Sturt Creek. When the river runs dry the creel turns to mud cracks, as indicated by the large mud crack in the centre. "Luga, (pronounced looka) is the name we had for the dried mud flats. In the wet season and after a big tide on the Sturt River, the water would rise up on the flats, and as it dried the mud would turn crystal, like salt. Sometimes the old people would eat these cracked cakes as bush medicine for the salt. I like making paintings from my memories from when we were young and all together.
