These animals carved onto the ceramic Boab are part of an ongoing telling of the stories of where I grew up since I was a kid. They are special to us as both totems and for food. They are important cultural figures. These animals occur right from my father’s side in the west in Broome /Karajarri Country through my mother’s land Gija Country in the East Kimberley.

We grew up all our life with the turkey as a good food source. I used to hunt the bush turkey after the wet season and going into the cold weather. When you see them moving out on the flats and when they are fat enough to eat.

I am connected with these animals through my culture and dreaming. I want to share this important knowledge with people who see my work.
