These animals carved onto the ceramic Boab are part of an ongoing telling of the stories of where I grew up since I was a kid. They are special to us as both totems and for food. They are important cultural figures. These animals occur right from my father’s side in the west in Broome /Karajarri Country through my mother’s land Gija Country in the East Kimberly.
The Kangaroo lives in the cave shelters and under bushes out of the heat. When we visit the caves we can see where they have been living, we can see their tracks and droppings.
