Design: Wirnbeng (pandanus)

The pandanus leaves are harvested and stripped to make string for tool making and weaving. The string can be used to make string skirts and belts. The fruit ripens in the wet. It needs to be roasted on the fire to get rid of the toxins before the seeds can be eaten. The seeds also make good charcoal for slow cooking.
