David paints Kadimalal (Jaru language) or Wolfe Creek Crater. This is country from his mother's side. Kandimalal refers to the bush yams that no longer grow there. During Dreamtime a man and woman were digging for bush potatoes, or yaams, in the area. Nothing was there, ‘Kandi malal!’ (nothing is here!). Then they moved to another spot, digging digging; and this digging created the wolf cr crater country, the craters being the man and woman’s hunt for the bush potatoes. Jaru and Walmatjari people know that story.
