KAAC Exhibition All That Country Holds - Art of the Kimberley opens in Washington D.C.

 

Last month, the Kimberley Aboriginal Art and Culture (KAAC) exhibition titled “All That Country Holds - Art from the Kimberley” opened in Washington D.C. at the Dame Quentin Bryce Gallery, Australian Embassy. Curator Zali Morgan travelled to the U.S. with artists Leah Umbagai and Michael Jalaru Torres for the exciting event.

The exhibition showcased ten esteemed Kimberley artists with works reflecting themes of Country, environment, living culture, and language: Ben Galmirri Ward, Angelina Boona Karadada, Mervyn Street, Evelyn Malgil, Jan Gunjaka Griffiths, Miriam Baadjo, Leah Umbagai, Marylou Orliyarli Divili, Pauline Sunfly, and John Prince Siddon.


KAAC is an alliance of six leading Indigenous art centres from the remote Kimberley region of Western Australia, working together to preserve, promote and celebrate First Nations art and culture:

Mowanjum Arts
Waringarri Aboriginal Arts
Warlayirti Artists - Balgo 
Warmun Art Centre
