Balibaleng

$950.00

Dora Griffiths continues in her father's tradition by painting Country.  In this painting Dora paints Balibaleng Midnight Creek in the Timber Creek area within the N.T. Balibaleng runs from the top left of the painting across to the bottom right.  The creek running down the bottom right is Saddle Creek and the two hills at the bottom are ant hills. The central hill is a small knob while the creek at the top right is Watermelon Creek.  This creek was named after all the bush watermelon growing next to the creek providing a good source of food for cattle.

These custom plates are made from a blend of terracotta and stoneware, and are microwave, dishwasher and oven safe.  As a quality Australian made product, this ceramic dinner platter is the perfect gift for those who love Indigenous art and handmade objects.

Size: 28cm Diameter x 3 cm H

“You need to know where to find them…. They are delicious when roasted on hot coals. Bush plums are everywhere during the wet season and are eaten raw. They are also good for making jam.” – Gloria Mengil
