Luga, (pronounced "looka") is the name we had for the dried mud flats on Sturt River.  In the wet seasons and after a big tide, the water would rise up on the black mud flats and as it would turn crystal, like salt  My parents used to eat the mud: it was a bush medicine, used for gut ache.
