Peter Newry

Peter was born at Newry Station in 1939. He moved to Ivanhoe Station near Kununurra in 1989 where he picked cotton and worked as a builder’s labourer. From there he moved to Jarnem (Police Hole) in the Keep River National Park. He became a much sought after artist from 2002 for his grand aerial depictions of country and pared back compositions, representing his “history” of his cultural knowledge.  Peter sadly passed away in 2012.
