I was born at Kirrkimby in the Northern Territory and I grew up there. I went to Nickolson Station when I was 13 years old and got a job. I also worked at Mistake Creek and then I stayed at Bamboo for a while before I came to Kununurra in 1977. I used to camp at Lily Creek, There were no houses then. When the gardiya (white man) came they moved us to Emu Creek. My cousin brother was living there then. When he passed away we went to Nulliwah. After that I got a homeswest house to grow all the kids up, so I live in town now. I started engraving boab nusts when I was at Emu Creek to make some money for ourselves. I started painting when Waringarri Arts first opened - we did it on paper then. Now I am painting on canvas. |
